Welcome, My Name is Josh
I love hiking, backpacking and now I am learning fastpacking right alongside you all. I found myself in my mid 40s fat from the pandemic and WFH granting amazing laziness as "safety". Now I am striving to get healthy one day at a time.
Like many I was active and happy in life but over time you get comfy in a career behind a desk, get married, have kid(s) and slowly but surely you begin to lose the things that you thought you never would.
For me I loved being outside, but somehow in moving forward in life and being short resources I found ever excuse not to take part in more and more outdoor activities which led to then doing less, then less, then eventually none.
In the last two years I have taken back my life and started trying to fix my nutrition and fitness as well as enbrace the thing I love most, being out in nature, the smell of the forest during and after a hard rain.
The issue is with a full profession it is very hard to get weeks or month to backpack areas, and with family the time is always finite. This led me to discover trail running and the art of fastpacking, and I fell in love with the concept of fastpacking which is like backpacking at the trail runners speed and sense of purpose.
